PENGARUH TINGKAT BEBAN KERJA MENTAL TERHADAP PEMILIHAN STRATEGI KOPING PADA PENGEMUDI TAKSI DI KOTA DEPOK
Taxi driver is a profession that has unique characteristics, this job has an extensive working environment, long working hours, and fluctuating payroll system. This job is not difficult, but requires physical and mental workload. While doing their job which is dominated by physical and mental load, a Taxi driver needs a suitable coping strategies to well-suited the workload in order to motivate themselves and get the job done well. This study were intended to determine the effect of the mental workload level to Taxi’s driver coping strategies in Depok. The research methodology was analytic observational with cross sectional approach. Samplings are done by cluster random sampling technique on three districts in Depok involving 82 Taxi’s drivers. This study used NASA-TLX mental workload questionnaire and Lazarus’s Way of Coping Scale. Based from the results of chi-square statistical test, the value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.005) which means that there are effects of mental workload level and coping strategies. This result shown that mental workload level that happen on a person would affect coping strategies they would choose and that can affect their mental workload level.
