This report entitled ‘Rapid Assessment of the Program Performance for the Elimination of HIV Transmission from Mother to Child in Makassar City and Maros District, South Sulawesi, 2020’. The report contains the word of ‘elimination’, to show that there is an ambitious target, all pregnant women get HIV tested so they will know the HIV status in 2030, eventhough they HIV positive, they will not transmit it to their children. Nationally, HIV test is part of ‘triple elimination’ target, whereas all pregnant women should get test for HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B and if they positive they will not transmit it to their children.
This report starts with an introduction that contains the background and objectives as stated in the Term of Reference. The report continued with the explanation of qualitative method consisted of Focus Group Discussion, In-depth interview and observation. The result section continued with discussion of program achievement and challenges in the field, strategies needed to eliminate the HIV transmission from mother to child. Finally, the report closes ended with conclusion and recommendation.
Hopefully the report will be used by the stakeholder in order to improve performance of prevention of mother to child HIV transmission to completely break the chain of HIV transmission from mother to child that could threaten quality of life for the next generation
