Initiation of early breasfeeding duration and breasmilk production

The decline in milk production in the first days after birth maybe caused by a lack of simulation of the hormone oxytocin and prolactin, which was instrumental in lactation, thus causing ASI did not leave after the birth. Early initiation of breastfeeding is an act that can stimulate breast milk expenditure throught increased hormone levels prolactin and oxytocin. This study was conducted to determine the relation between initiation of early breastfeeding duration on milk production, and useful as s basis for determining actions to increase milk production in mothers postpartum. Method: The research method was quasi-experiment with a sample of 36 mothers postpartum. Data wewrw analyzed using correlation test. Result: Based on test resulth are the statistically significant relationship between initiation of early breastfeeding duration with a weight gain of infants with a P value <0.005. There is a significant association between initiation of early breastfeeding duration with the increase in the amounth of milk on the third day with a value of p < 0.005. in addition, factors related to milk production is the break with a P value < 0.005 and frequency of breastfeeding with value p <0.005. Discussion : initiation of early breastfeeding duration effect the secretion of hormones prolactin and oxytocin hormone. Both of these hormones influence against postpartum maternal milk production.
