The objectives of Transtibial Prosthetics -training course at JSPO are that after
the course students know transtibial amputation, features of good
amputation and common amputation procedures. They will know transtibial
anatomy and physiology, and understand the normal gait.
It is important to understand the biomechanics of transtibial amputee, the
meaning of patient assessment and prescription principles. Students learn to
make the transtibial casting procedure and cast rectification. They also acquire
knowledge of how to use various prosthetic materials and transtibial
prosthetic components.
Students have to understand transtibial prosthetic alignment and pressure
distribution. They have to understand transtibial gait deviations, analyze them
and know ways of correcting them. Students will learn how to make
transtibial checkout procedure, understand common transtibial socket
problems and find solutions for them.
